2014 Forest Resource Institute – GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE: Building Great Communities;

June 11-12, 2014 Columbia, SC.

Two-day training designed for municipal and county government planners and landscape architects responsible for writing and enforcing tree and landscape ordinances and developing comprehensive plans. The focus of this year’s institute is “GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE: Building Great Communities”. The program, hosted by the SC Forestry Commission and Trees SC will feature topics such as open space protection, green infrastructure planning, and functional landscape design. Presentations from nationally recognized speakers include:

•Integrating Conservation into Suburban Growth Management;

•Shandon Green Infrastructure: Historic Neighborhood Retrofit;

•Low Impact Development: Benefits for Sites and Clients;

•USC Tour: Greening an Urban Campus (even a green roof!)
; Approved continuing education credits for ISA Certified Arborists and Municipal Specialists (11 hours) and SC Planning Education Advisory Committee (3 hours) will be available. There is a $115.00 registration fee, which includes meals and hotel stay.
