Design & Development: Stormwater & Your Bottom Line

Date

May 28, 2008

Location

Litchfield, SC

Narrative

The Georgetown County Stormwater Department is tasked with ensuring that the county’s growth and associated development does not degrade our coastal water resources through stormwater pollution. To do this, the Department has implemented a stormwater ordinance and stormwater utility fee. In addition, the Department encourages developers to consider innovative approaches, such as
Low Impact Development (LID). LID practices yield significant savings of time, money, and resources
for the county, developers, engineers, and planners. LID practices also promote healthy natural resources,
reduced stormwater pollution, and sustainable living communities while continuing to meet the county’s growing development needs and satisfy developers’ bottom line.
