Public Hearing: Local Comprehensive Beach Management Plan for the City of Isle of Palms

Date

March 19, 2008

Location

Isle of Palms City Hall, Isle of Palms

Narrative

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (SCDHEC-OCRM) is responsible for the management of the State’s beachfront and coastal zone. The Beachfront Management Act, S.C. Code Ann. § 48-39-250 et seq., established a requirement in section 48-39-350 that beachfront counties, cities and towns must prepare local comprehensive beach management plans, in coordination with SCDHEC-OCRM, that must contain a minimum of ten key elements. Once adopted by the community, local beach management plans are then submitted to SCDHEC-OCRM for review and State approval.

All interested persons are urged to attend and voice their comments on the decision to approve this Local Comprehensive Beach Management Plan for the City of Isle of Palm. Oral statements will be heard at the meeting, but for the sake of accuracy, important facts and statements should be submitted in written form to the presiding officer at the meeting or mailed to:
