Narrative

The Southeastern Estuarine Research Society (SEERS) is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to the informal exchange of interdisciplinary information related to estuaries of the southeastern United States. SEERS promotes discussion of estuarine research, science, and management; promotes discussion of current research projects and management issues; and encourages participation of student colleagues. The fall 2008 Meeting of the Southeastern Estuarine Research Society (SEERS) will be held at the University of Tampa (UT) in Tampa, Florida in the Reeves Theater from November 13th-15th. The meeting is being arranged by local UT faculty members Evan Chipouras, Ph.D. (evan@ut.edu) and Lori McRae, Ph.D. (lbenson@ut.edu). The meeting will start with an informal social on Thursday evening, 13 Nov, at the Marriott Courtyard Tampa Downtown. All presentations will be held at the University of Tampa campus and will take place from approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday with a banquet that evening, and Saturday from approximately 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Posters will be displayed during lunch and will be judged on Friday. Oral sessions will be held in the Reeves Theater at UT. Lunches on Friday and Saturday will be provided for registered participants. Abstracts for the SEERS fall meeting are due by 5 pm on October 7th. SEERS is offering up to five student travel awards of $100 each to qualifying students. *Hotel rooms may be reserved at the Marriot Courtyard Tampa Downtown (102 E. Cass St.; Tampa, FL 33602) for a conference rate of $109 plus tax (1 to 4 persons/room). This rate does NOT include breakfast. You can make reservations by calling 1-800-228-9290 and request a room under the Southeastern Estuarine Research Society Room Block, or you can also make reservations via the internet at www.marriott.com/tpadt with the group code of SERSERA (king) or SERSERB (doubles) in the Group Code Section. Rooms are blocked until 15 Oct. We have a limited quantity of rooms so book quickly to ensure availability.
