Staying Power: Planning for Lifelong Communities and Solar Energy

Narrative

This webcast training session will highlight urban and rural demographic trends; stress the importance of addressing demographic changes, active living, and healthy eating principles in your county’s comprehensive plan; and feature best practices/ lessons learned in Beaufort, Lancaster, and York counties. The program will also discuss the importance and implications of solar energy for South Carolina local governments. During the webcast, participants will be encouraged to send questions to the instructors via e-mail. A sample of topics to be covered includes:

  • Newcomers and lifelong residents: South Carolina demographic trends
  • The connection between healthy lifestyles and community planning
  • Building blocks for an active community
  • The S.C. Health + Planning Toolkit
  • Solar panel screening restrictions
  • Solar plan reviews, inspections, and permits

The webcast will take place Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 9:00 A.M.- 12:30 P.M. and is meant for planning/zoning officials and employees, and other interested persons. This webcast can be viewed in any training room where there is access to the internet through a laptop computer connected to an LCD projector. Register online via www.sccounties.org.
