Swales, Bio-Swales and Regenerative Stormwater Conveyance Workshop

Date

November 16, 2023

Time

9:30am - 3:30pm

Location

Georgetown, SC

Venue

Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science

Narrative

Stormwater conveyance channels are an important part of stormwater design and management. Three vegetation-based conveyances will be discussed at this workshop. One “oldie but goodie” (swales) and two newer kids on the block (bio-swales and regenerative stormwater conveyance [RSC, aka bio-filtration channels]). All three of them have been the focus of research efforts of faculty at two proud members of the ACC, N.C. State and Clemson. Faculty from both schools will provide an overview of each conveyance practice, design considerations (including new prospective NCDEQ Minimum Design Criteria, or MDC’s, for RSC’s), and a spreadsheet design tool (for swales and bio-swales). Common maintenance considerations for swales & bio-swales will also be presented.

Registration is required and cost $195.
