ULI South Carolina is fortunate to have an engaged membership that generously gives their time to help forward ULI’s Mission To provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities. To that end, we are pleased to announce the launch of ULI’s UrbanPlan in South Carolina. UrbanPlan offers a unique opportunity to get involved and give back to the community.
UrbanPlan is a realistic, engaging exercise in which participants—high school students, university students, or public officials—learn about the fundamental forces that affect real estate development in our communities. Through an academically challenging, classroom-based curriculum, students learn the essence of development: how the forces of our market economy clash and collaborate with the non-market forces of our representative democracy to create the built environment – providing the foundation required for any informed land use discussion.
If you are interested in learning more about UrbanPlan and volunteer opportunities in the Charleston area, please join us on December 5, 2017, at 8:30 am for an informational session. The event will take place at the College of Charleston’s Beatty Center. This is a free, members-only event.
