South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC): The DHEC Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM) protects and enhances the State's coastal resources by preserving sensitive and fragile areas while promoting responsible development in the eight coastal counties of South Carolina. DHEC-OCRM Program Goals and Objectives include: Implementing the Coastal Zone Management Plan to manage wetland alterations and review all federal and state permits within the Coastal Zone for consistency with enforceable policies; Preserving sensitive natural, historic and cultural resources through regulatory oversight and guidance; Providing technical expertise and planning assistance to coastal decision-makers to resolve complex coastal management issues. DHEC-OCRM offices are located in Charleston, Beaufort, and Myrtle Beach.
