Description

The Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) functions by using tract level US census information to identify communities that may need support in preparing for hazards or recovering from disaster. The index is ranked by 14 social factors which are then further grouped into 4 spheres of vulnerability: socioeconomic status, household composition, ethnicity, and housing/transportation.
